Healthy Eating Habits

Key information for parents regarding child nutrition

As you all know, our team is working with the new caterers on providing healthy delicious meals that are enjoyed by the children and provide them with balanced nutrition throughout the day. It would help if we encourage children to try new items as well as enjoy the most popular ones. This helps to reduce wastage at meals times.

To make our work fruitful, we would like to encourage parents to continue the same message we aim to deliver, at home, using the 4 step approach detailed below:

1) Serving balanced meals, based on fruit, vegetables, whole grains, dairy, carbohydrates and protein. Try to fill half of child’s plate with vegetables. Encourage them to try eat their veg first.

2) Offering three meals daily & limiting snacks, and when needed offering healthy snacks low in sugar. (Fruits, veggies, crackers, cheese, dairy).

3) Encourage exercise and speak about it with them. Remember children learn best by example, so going on a walk or cycle with them, would set good habits for life rather then just speaking about it.

4) Educate children on good nutrition. Talk about it. With what you may know. Talk about wasting less, the different food groups. Watch cooking shows, take them with you on grocery shopping, try a new vegetable every week, let them help you wash and prepare it. When they know more they are likely to try more.

Therefore help us to reduce waste and encourage children to eat more fruit 🍎🍌🍊🍓 and vegetables 🥦🥑🥬🌶 on a regular basis.
